* Black shoes...no heels!!
*How should i do my hair and makeup?
*I like a shampoo girl to smell good while washing my hair, so what parfum should i wear? (I am a girl though)What should i wear on my first day training as a shampoo girl at nice salon?
Don't wear anything that is too tight, as you will be bending over the bowl a lot. Scrub pants are your best bet.
Wear a really good closed-toed shoe that will support your entire foot. Running or cross trainers are best. You will be on your feet for long periods of time.
Do not wear sandals. Wet floors, hair on the floor, or even a hair clip can cause you to slip and fall. Sandals do not have the proper soles to help prevent that from happening.
Hair, when cut, can become embedded in your feet, just like a thorn and sometimes it's difficult to remove, especially if it's blonde or gray.
Besides, clients don't really care which polish you have on your toes.
Dark tops are best, as they don't show soil or hair color. And, believe me, you will get hair color on your clothes, eventually.
Short sleeve tops, will be more comfortable for you, because your lower arms will get wet.
Do not wear sleeveless blouses/tops. Clients do not want to see your armpits or smell your deodorant, every time they get their hair shampooed.
I strongly, suggest wearing a professional apron, with pockets, that is made specifically for coloring and perms. It will protect your clothes, from hair color, bleach and other chemicals and it looks more professional. You can purchase an inexpensive apron at Sally's for about $12.00, if the salon doesn't supply one for you.
Wear a good support bra. Victoria's Secret's pretty little, lacy things are fine for going out at night, but will cause you to have one very sore back, after shampooing about 10 clients.
Keep breath mints in your pocket and use them, as needed.
The pockets are a good place to keep your tips, too.
Keep a box of unscented Kleenex near the shampoo area, for yourself and clients.
Use a hand sanitizer, every time you use a Kleenex.
Keep your hair back, if it is long, so that it doesn't fall in the clients face, while you are shampooing.
Day-time make-up will be fine.
Be careful with fragrances. Some clients are sensitive to fragrances/perfumes, so keep it light.
If you should accidently let go of the hose while shampooing, do not try to grab the hose!
It's damned near impossible.
At full force, the hose has a lot of pressure behind it and it will, literally stand up and twirl.
Simply, turn the water off.
Every hairdresser/shampoo person looses the hose at some point, so don't feel too embarassed about it; just laugh it off, clean up the mess and go back to work.
Keep your area clean and tidy, clean up any water on the floor or the chair.
At the end of the day disinfect the shampoo bowl, sweep you area, restock the towels, refill shampoo/conditioner bottles, empty the trash, if needed.
And ask yourself, if you would want to have your favorite grandmother sitting in that chair.
If you are not busy, sweep up hair, vacuum, fold towels, pick up magazines, empty coffee cups, sort and put away perm rods, whatever it takes to look busy, in front of the clients, hairdressers and the ';boss';.
If your chair swivels, turn it, so that it is ready for the clients to be seated. The back of a chair is so uninviting.
Always, say ';thank you';, even if they don't tip you.
Turn your cell phone off or on silent. You are there to work, not socialize with your friends or boyfriend.
Don't talk about yourself, unless asked, and keep it short. Clients don't want to hear about your love life, or the lack thereof, or your problems at school or home. They come to the salon for relaxation, as much as for their hairdressing needs.
Good luck and have fun!!
P.S.
No bracelets; they tend to become tangled in the hair.
And no watch, as it will get wet. What should i wear on my first day training as a shampoo girl at nice salon?
Ok well your lucky! i do this for a living my bffs ask me these Q's all the time
Go shopping at like Marshells or T J maxs they have cute clothes there for really cheap.
If you have a top that is a V-Neck or a hoop neck wear that and have your hair UP! thats really important also put Masscare ,Eyeliner ,Lipgloss and Eye Shadow on all close to your ';accent'; color. If your younger wear like Hot pink or lime green or bright purple. If your older wear Pastels .
4 perfume wear something exotic .
Perfume? Vanilla, works everytime.
Try black yoga pants, or just jeans.
A nice not frilly top will be nice. Accent your clothes in golds and silver but not together, they clash.
Try a couple bracelets and a belt or something.
Good Luck!
Why don't you ask the Salon owner for tips?
She's the one who hired you.
