Why is it when the girls in the Axe shampoo commercials assault a guy to wash his hair, that's OK...?

But if a bunch of guys jumped a girl to shampoo HER hair, I bet there'd be outrage in the streets and lawsuits galore?

Here is the objectionable ad:

Or would you have no moral qualms about a bunch of hot guys doing that to a teenage girl at a mall with Pantene Pro-V?Why is it when the girls in the Axe shampoo commercials assault a guy to wash his hair, that's OK...?
Well, hello there ;)

It's because a bunch of guys jumping on a girl leads the mind to unsavory things like rape, which is common. Whereas most guys would love a bunch of girls bathing them.

Society has a bunch of complex codes of conduct, it's not black and white. Why is it when the girls in the Axe shampoo commercials assault a guy to wash his hair, that's OK...?
I'm sure if it happened in reality, there would be an outcry.

However, most guys enjoy a fantasy of being attacked by a group of hot girls.

Men don't generally have a problem with being gang-raped by women in reality. For women, it IS something that happens in reality, so women are more sensitive to the issue. Seeing a commercial where a group of men jumped a woman to wash her hair would come off as frightening, not cute or funny. If there was a problem in the real world with men being gang-raped by women, then you wouldn't see commercials like this, because then it, too, would appear to be frightening.

Commercials like this work differently for men and women not as much because of a ';double-standard';, but simply because the REALITY is different for men than it is for women.
Marketing is different for men and women.

Men's commercials try to show a man that is intensely desirable to women, even if they have to go through pain. This includes getting jumped by beautiful women and getting an undesirable trait removed.

Women's commercials are more about getting an pleasure out of using the product. I tried herbal essence, and let me tell you, their claims are exaggerated... never got an orgasm through washing my hair.
Advertising is all about creating and/or playing on insecurities in people and then offering them a perceived solution (buy our product).

Attractiveness is one of their most productive areas because it feeds off our genuine need to be loved, their continued harassment of us with the idea that we have to be attractive in particular ways in order to be loved, and their omnipresent depiction of impossibly 'attractive' people (between lighting, make-up artists and airbrushing, even the models don't look that 'perfect').

Advertisers are experts at manipulating women in this way. Since they want men to spend as much of their income on 'beauty' products as women do, part of the advertising strategy is to treat them like women. There's a message here that's so in your face we don't see it -- if you want to be loved, hand over your power to others.

It's all about money and they don't care how much they mess with our psyches.
It is a fantasy. In our society, a fantasy of a guy being assaulted by a bunch of girls is considered acceptable. Fantasizing about a girl being assaulted by a group of guys is not.
The better question is:

Why won't a little guy with a strange haircut start singing the ';Berries and Cream'; song to me, but he will sing it to two guys?

It's a commercial. It's not supposed to be real.
See, guys have to beaten and threatened to bathe themselves.

That's why it is okay. Alright, I'm just kidding.

You're an intelligent person, surely you can think beyond the sub-liminal messages in commercial advertisement, can't you?
I wouldn't mind a bunch of hot guys, but they'd have to pass a complete medical check-up first.

If it was a bunch of ugly guys I would be tempted to shout rape and abuse, in all honesty.
It's a commercial.... It's not like that happens everyday on a daily basis! It's just another way of the advertisment saying ';If you use this, you can get hot girls like this!';

No need to be so worried about it.
I love those commercials!!

If I bunch of guys jumped on me, I wouldn't object. ;-D
Bothers me just as much as it bothers me that guys have no problem asking girls to make out with each other, but if girls ask guys to make out with another guy they will throw a hissy fit and say no.

Double standards much?
Gender equality has a long way to go. And why can't a woman put the seat up when she is finished? And why, when a straight man looks at a woman all he sees is boobs and sex?
Women get special treatment.
Especially with Pantene Pro-V... Ugh.
There are many double standards in our society, aren't there?
Double standard.
Clearly because 85 % of women agree that greasy hair on a guy is a turnoff.
Deep down we guys would love to be jumped and shampoo'd by a bunch of hotties.
This is R%26amp;S.
NOT KOSHER AT ALL!!!
It's just an ad. They were all being paid VERY well!
It would only be offensive if the guys in the commercial were testing out feminine products on the girls.

Seriously, what is with the stupid questions you people ask?
